Whatever your preferred mode of transport, it’s an easy trip to Hampshire County. Western Massachusetts is waiting for you… so what are you waiting for? We’re accessible by car, train, bus and air.

By Car...

We're just a three-hour drive from New York City and two hours from Boston. Interstate 91, which runs north and south from New Haven, Connecticut to the Canadian Border, goes right through the center of Hampshire County. Northbound exits 15B, 23, 25, 27 and 30, and southbound exits 32, 27, 26, 23, and 15 will all get you into Hampshire County. 

From the East: Boston and Rt. 128
It takes a little under two hours. Take the Mass Pike (90) to exit 45, and get on I-91 North. If you get off exit 25, go left on Route 9 to enter Northampton and go right to head into Hadley and Amherst.

From the South: New York Area
We are less than three hours from Manhattan. Take the Hutchinson River Parkway to the Merritt Parkway, to I-91 North, or Route 95 North to I-91 North. If you get off on exit 25, go left on Route 9 to enter Northampton and go right to head into Hadley and Amherst. Or take exit 23 and turn left to drive into Northampton center.

From the West: Albany and the Berkshires
From the Albany area, take the Mass Pike (90) east to exit 45, and merge onto I-91 North. From Pittsfield take Route 9 east. From the Northern Berkshires take Route 2 east to Greenfield, and get on I-91 South.

From the North: Vermont, New Hampshire or Montreal
Take I-91 South. If you get off exit 26, go left on Damon Road to take the bridge to Hadley and Amherst, or carry on straight to enter Northampton. Or take exit 23 and turn left to drive into Northampton center.

By Bus...

Peter Pan Bus Lines offers frequent service from Boston and New York to Northampton and Amherst. Visit their website to see routes and timetables, or call 800-237-8747.

PVTA provides local bus service throughout the Pioneer Valley – it’s a simple and scenic way to get from town to town in Western Massachusetts.

By train...

Amtrak's Vermonter Line provides direct service to the Pioneer Valley with station stops in SpringfieldNorthampton, and Greenfield. The train operates along a route that travels between Washington DC and Vermont through New York City. You can take a cab from the train stations to all points in Hampshire County (20-25 minutes). 

By air...

Bradley International Airport is 35 minutes from Hampshire County with easy access to I-91. Rent a car there and drive north, or take a shuttle service from the airport.
