Libraries & Bookstores
The New York Times once wrote about our area: “The Pioneer Valley is arguably the most author-saturated, book-cherishing, literature-celebrating place in the nation.”
We’ll take it. If folks in Hampshire County aren’t working on a novel, they’re reading one.
Get lost in one of our independent bookstores, like Odyssey Bookshop, Raven Used Books, Grey Matter or Amherst Books. Get acquainted with local literary heroes at the Emily Dickinson Museum. And search through expansive collections at our celebrated Forbes Library and the Yiddish Book Center. Western Massachusetts certainly has plenty to keep book lovers busy. We think you’ll probably be inspired to start keeping journal, or finally start work on that screenplay.
